Antonia was born in a small town - San Gabriel Mixtepec — about one hour from La Gema. Having had a difficult childhood to say the least, Antonia set herself a goal that her son would never lack for food or a home. Antonia started cooking professionally at a very early age as a kitchen assistant in a 5 star restaurant.
She has a love for cooking and is happy when guests are happy. All her recipes are kept in her head yet she enjoys changing them from time to time. Her speciality is using local products and flavors to creat a unique take on Oaxacan cooking.
Her culinary expertise and the resulting offerings will be one of the highlights of your visit to La Gema. Eat well and enjoy.
