We love this restaurant for its unique take on modern Mexican flavors. It’s rooftop location is fantastic and the cocktail list is one of the best in town.

Perched high on the cliffs above Playa Carrizalillo, Espadin is known for its spectacular sunsets, seafood and Oaxacan cuisine. Just make sure you don’t have too many Mezcalitas - its 185 steps down to the beach!

Considered Puerto Escondido’s best fine dining experience. This small yet casual restaurant is a must for food lovers - offering both degustation and a la carte options. We generally try to stay on the light side of the menu. Make sure try the smoked grilled oysters. Reservations required.

When you craving sushi in Puerto Escondido, trust us this is hands down the best in town. Excellently prepared naturo rolls, terrific miso soup and tempura and a surfista atmosphere make this a great local option for dinner.

Excellent food with absolutely the best burgers in town. Nene offers a surfista environment and handsome waiters to boot. A relaxing and great place for a margarita with mezcal on the side.

Managed and owned by one of the most famous surfing families in town, this wonderful local restaurant offers only four tacos: its award winning smoked fish , shrimp, baha fish and vegetarian. If that works for you, it is definitely worth a try.

One of the newer restaurants to the Rinconada scene, Omara is a total standout. Run by Andrea Torrev, Omara brings a cool laid vibe with some of the freshest most exciting food in Puerto. It’s definitely top on our “Hit List”.

Owned by Chef extraordinaire and dear freind Levi Coste (of Coste Restaurante), La Principal offers some of the most sophisticated and fresh food in town. Seafood is the focus so make sure not to miss the whole grilled red snapper and calamari frito. The vibe is stylish and laid back. If Levi is around - ask for him as he is always ready for hearty laughs and great conversation.

This was the first restaurant we fell in love with in Puerto Escondido. Enjoy delicious modern Mexican foood, laze away the afternoon on comfortable sun beds with chilled tunes. Agua Sala is the perfect please to eat, drink, relax and watch the sunset.

A delightful hidden gem just one block off Zicatella’s main beach. Elephant garden is great for breakfast, brunch or a quick snack between hitting the waves. Healthy, light and offering both vegan and gluten free options, Elephant Garden is a serene a lovely place to visit.

El Coste Restaurante. The original and standout restaurant in Zicatela and one of the best in all of Puerto. A seafood lovers paradise. Sink you feet in the sound, listen to the waves and enjoy some of the best seafood in all of Oaxaca.

With locations in both Rinconada and La Punta - Pinches Tacos offers some of the most delicious and freshest tacos in town. With all seafood sourced locally, its the perfect place for a late lunch or light dinner (open 3pm till late).

Despite it’s name (and making some of the best burgers in town) Alaburger is the king of pizzas. Enjoy thin crispy delicious pizza in a casual beach setting where you can put your feet in the sand and listen to great live music. It’s communal seating and fire pits is a great way to meet other travelers. A very fun night.

The newest and coolest bar in La Punta. Run by our French amigo Benjamin - Mombasa offer great cocktails, incredible DJ’s and the outdoor vibe that all seek out in La Punta.

El Bicho provides some of the best sunsets in Puerto Escondido. Run by charming Argentines, this is our favorite spot for grilled meats, fish and vegetables. The roaring wood fire, great music and an incredible beach setting is hard to beat.
